The Housing Connection (THC) is family to Shane, and has been for many years. Shane is 50 years old today and has moved homes more times than anybody should have to, mainly due to his complex needs and it can be a challenge to match people in share homes. Shane has just moved into a new temporary house, we have built an personalised individual support team around him and he is doing well living on his own with THC support.

The way adults with intellectual disabilities and complex needs are funded, and the shortage in housing does not allow for many individual housing options. Many organisations would not be able to build a specialist team around someone. We have, with a lot of work and with some luck we found a temporary home for Shane, but this home is old and Shane needs underfloor insulation and carpet to keep him warm.
