Cataract surgery
Donation protected
Over the past 2 years, my eyesight has gradually worsened. Where I once had no difficulty at all seeing the most detailed of images, my ability to see distant objects began to become impossible.
In April, I saved up enough money to get and eye exam, and a little later, to purchase prescription glasses. However, the doctor immediately found that I had severe cataracts, that my left eye was more advanced in vision loss than my right, and that I would need corrective surgery soon.
Sure enough, during the summer, I became completely blind in my left eye, and my glasses were doing almost nothing to sharpen vision in my right eye. I began looking for an eye clinic that would accept me, because I have no insurance, and do not qualify for assistance.
The RI Eye Clinic accepted me, and we are currently negotiating a financial agreement, but, in the mean time, I must make a $2,000 down payment before surgery can begin on just my left eye. This is non-negotiable. If I cannot make the payment, my surgery will be postponed indefinitely, even to the point where I am finally blind in my right eye, which may be in less than two months from now, judging by the speed in which I lost vision in my left.
I have helped others in the past when I could, and I'm hoping that Karma remembers me.
Thank you,
Roxy Ferret
