From Moi:
"I am the worst at asking for help. I could be on fire, carrying a wedding cake, a fishbowl and a handful of knives while trying to open a door behind me and I would tell you I'm fine. But I'm not fine and thankfully I'm not too stubborn to admit I need your help.

My name is Moi Wong and I am a 54 -year old single mom of two wonderful teenagers, Ronan (16) and Lilah (13). I have recently been diagnosed with two primary, concurrent, uncureable cancers of the colon and kidney. I have just begun 12 cycles of aggressive chemotherapy with the hopes of extending my life as long as possible, at least long enough to get my legal affairs in order. Since my diagnosis I have been unable to work as I have for the past 30 years as a graphic designer and am currently on Washington State disability.

My little family moved to Trout Lake from Hood River several years ago. Lilah and Ronan were failing socially and academically at their former schools and I could not get them the help they needed. After hearing about the community and school at Trout Lake, I sold my house in Hood River and bought a crummy little cabin across the street from Trout Lake School. Moving here was the answer to many years of prayers, tears and pleading for a place where my children would feel accepted and at home. Trout Lake embraced us and Ronan and Lilah began to really blossom. With the mentorship of the school's legendary teachers, Ronan stepped into the sun after years of depression. He is an amateur apiarist now, and finds great satisfaction in watching his bees work together. Lilah finally lifted her chin and started to believe in herself and is now an accomplished rider and horsewoman. Her beautiful boy Cash is nickering at me through the dining room window as I write this as a reminder of how much these children have overcome.

I am terrified that when I pass, Ronan and Lilah will be removed from their security, safety and home of Trout Lake. The process of securing guardianship for them and keeping them in school here represents a gargantuan legal and financial battle. I am hoping to raise the $15,000 legal retainer so Ronan and Lilah can remain in our home and graduate from Trout Lake School with your help. "

We all know Moi as the person who would drop everything to help a friend. Now is all of our turn to return the favor and show our love. No amount is too small.
