Hi everyone, my name is Jason.

I've never done one of these and debated doing it since I didn't think people would care as much but was told it couldn't hurt.

My best buddy, Forrest, passed away on 8/24. He was about 11 and the emergency vet couldn't figure out what was wrong with him in time. He was showing some weakness in his legs that gave him a wobbly walk and was having trouble breathing. I took him to an emergency room and they did xrays, finding nothing wrong with his lungs (or anything of note) and thought it could be a swollen disk in his neck area. They gave us pain and anti-inflammatory meds and sent us home. The next day, things got worse and worse until he stopped breathing entirely and I kept having to pat and shake him to get him breathing again, so we rushed back. They thought that maybe a neurologist would be a good next step but knew he wouldn't make it to one and he was just in too much pain, so the decision was made to help him pass as smoothly as possible.

I'm absolutely wrecked by the loss, he went all over the country with me, I had him since he was just able to leave his mother. He was a real rock for me during the worst times I've had and I miss that little goof so much. 

After making several decisions with my heart instead of wallet, I'm looking at $2000 of debt to the vet that I am really struggling to manage and some other costs (that I didn't include in my goal) that are a bit more manageable. I know a donation to save a pet is easier to justify than one after they're gone, but I'm just trying to do what I can to grieve without the stress of the bill. I know it's my fault for incurring it but I just wanted my little guy to be okay. 

I will use the donations to pay off the vet bill which is just too much on my plate to handle without some help.
