In February 2022 Pat was taken ill and was subsequently diagnosed with a Heart condition and FND (Functional Neurological Disorder).

Firstly, we would like to thank each and every one that have shown their support and donated. We have been overwhelmed by your kindness and generosity.

We wanted to provide an update on Pat and are pleased to let you all know that he had his heart surgery a few weeks ago and is make a good recovery; he is getting stronger and is starting to get out and about now for short periods of time.

Unfortunately, the Trauma of the operation caused a relapse in his FND (Functional Neurological Disorder). Following his heart surgery he had an extended stay in hospital and had various diagnostics/specialist input to make sure that there wasn’t anything else ‘going on’. There was no new diagnosis and they believe that his mind & body reacted to the trauma of the heart surgery causing a relapse of his FND symptoms, however, no further rehab or therapy was made available.

He remains positive, has good days & bad days and we are hopeful that with time he will get back to where he was prior to his heart surgery, in order for us to progress with private intensive therapy.

He was so looking forward to becoming more involved this season at the Rugby Club, however, due this set-back it may be a while before you start to see him around the grounds on match days.

Once again thank you all for your support; it really will make such a difference and we hope that you will all start seeing more of him soon!
