Please help me to help my Brother

On 1st August 2020 my brother was attacked and rushed to hospital with serious head injury he spent weeks in ICU and we was told he has very bad brain damage was even told to prepare for the worse .
I am trying to get support for him but been told I need power of attorney but have to fund this ourselves as well as I would like to get justice for him and the best care possible so will have to appoint a solicitor to help me with this . My brother is 32 years old we never thought we would be needing power of attorney at such young age for someone but he’s totally unresponsive and still in hospital . please any help would be appreciated.
he will never recover from this .
