Help Save Diesel's Life

Diesel just turned 2, and before this summer he was an active, loving, playful kitty. He used to go on walks in our backyard, chase his sister Fannie, jump all over us, play with his toys, and be a little pig inventing new ways to climb his way into the food cabinet. I even started training him behavioral-psychology style to talk using buttons, like in Christina Hunger's book. He made so much progress. Then: he stopped eating, slept all day, and stopped taking interest in anything. I took him to the vet, and learned his diagnosis: Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a disease in cats which stems from the same coronavirus that causes Covid-19 in humans. The vet told me and my family that there was no cure, and that he would just get sicker until we had to put him down. This disease has become known as "the pandemic for cats", and looked like a presumable death sentence.

So, I researched and researched, and within three days of the devastating news, found an experimental treatment backed by vets and pet owners alike. Videos showed cats who were on the last stages of FIP, with matted fur who were on the brink of death, but who were suddenly transformed back to life by a miracle drug. ABC, the Atlantic, and Animal Biome even wrote about it, so I knew it was reputable.

A Facebook group full of cat moms and dads and vets called "FIP Warriors" took me, Diesel, and other cat parents with cats with FIP in, and gave us an estimate and a prayer. The only obstacle is cost. I don't have to pay all at once, they told me, but the total is sky-high for a currently unemployed college student. All I want in this world is to save Diesel's life, because he has saved mine.

This fund will cover the full cost of Diesel's treatment, and I would be so grateful to each and every person who donates. I hope karma will come back to you with each of your donations, and may you feel pride in knowing you helped an innocent 2-year-old live a fuller, natural life
