Anita DePaz, born Hsiao Fang Liu, is a wife and a mother of two. Born in Taiwan in 1972, Anita worked hard her entire life to achieve the American dream, and moved to the US in 2013.
Recently, Anita has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon-rectal cancer and metastasis in the lungs. She is also battling a flare of hepatitis B, further weakening her body and adding complexity to her medical care.
Anita worked hard all her life to provide for her family. Her business, which she built from the ground up, collapsed during the pandemic, forcing the family to sell their house in California and move to Whidbey Island, WA. She took on a job as a caregiver to toddlers, which in her current state she cannot continue with.
The uncertainty of what the future holds, supporting Anita emotionally and physically, and piling bills are adding further stress on the family. Anita is going to go through aggressive chemotherapy, in biweekly cycles of 3 days at a time. In the summer she will get surgery and we pray for her recovery.
She will need assistance and care throughout this time. The state of WA helped Anita and Nim receive medical insurance which is a blessing, yet is still limited. Having to keep on paying the monthly fees, the out-of-pocket expenses, and of course mortgage and daily expenses, is nearly impossible considering the current situation.
Though very uncomfortable, the family is asking for financial support to help them get through this intensive year of treatments. We thank you for your support

First off, we are all extremely grateful for the donations we've received so far. Anita is so thankful for all the support. We will update the GoFundMe with any news on her progress as she embarks on this journey.
Today is her first day of Chemotherapy, and the first time she didn't feel afraid about it. She's dressed up, got a positive mental attitude, and is determined to beat her cancer!
We are still trying to reach our goal to keep the financial burden as easy on her as possible, so we ask that you guys keep spreading the word and donate when you can. Every cent counts! Thank you.

Hi everyone,
Anita is doing well so far! She has just finished her fourth round of chemo and doctors will be seeing how the treatment has been helping on March 2nd.
She's been handling the treatment very well from what we've seen. She's still able to do yoga and has told us that she has been feeling better since before her first round of chemo!
I wanted to update anyone who's been curious on my mothers situation and thank them profusely again for checking in with her.
Please keep sharing and donating if you can. We're almost at 50%!

Hello all,
Anita just got her first lab results back since starting treatment and it seems that the cells have shrunken by 40%!!
There does seem to be some activity going on in her spine that the doctors have noticed, still not sure what, but she's going back soon for scans on that.
Despite that news, Anita is still determined to keep fighting.
Please keep donating if you can! If not, sharing would be appreciated!
