Evie's Sister-New Orleans Hurricane Ida Relief

Donation protected

Hello Dear Friends, Family & Loved Ones! Many good wishes to you and the people you love today.

As you know, on the exact 16th anniversary date of Hurricane Katrina (2005) another Catastrophic Hurricane "Ida" has hit and devastated my beloved city of New Orleans. Because this city and it's amazing, unique culture is so terribly difficult to think about leaving, most of my family still live there...and has since the early 1800's.

Many of my family members are struggling to cope with the aftermath of this storm. So many family homes are severely damaged...caved in roofs, large parts of homes stripped away, catastrophic flooding and the complete destruction of all personal belongings. One of the hardest hit is my little Sister Felicia and her family. Not being able to make it out of the state on Saturday, August 28th, the family checked into a hotel in the heart of the city on St. Charles Ave. to ride out the storm. This was a blessing because their home and neighborhood was sure to flood...and it did. My Sister Felicia, her Partner and 4 of her kids (and their doggies) lost power in the hotel on Sunday morning while the storm raged. After continuing on there for the remainder of the day and Sunday night without any power, they decided Monday morning to take the dangerous chance of leaving New Orleans and headed east to try and find shelter where they could. After trying in two other states, they ended up finding a room at a small hotel in Panama City, FL on Monday night.

Because the storm seemed to come on so quickly, they left the house with only 3 days of clothing and don't have anything else at the time. My Husband Darrick and I are flying a couple of the children here to Santa Fe, New Mexico to stay safe with us while the family tries to make it through this ordeal. The kids just started school, the youngest just graduated kindergarten and the oldest just started college at University of New Orleans. ALL of them are high academic achievers and on the honor roll...Jadeon graduated "Summa Cum Laude" from Benjamin Franklin High School in NOLA and was able to secure scholarship funds to start his Freshman year at UNO! (My Alma Mater)

Please consider making a donation to help my sister and her family during this horrible ordeal while they try and find a place to live/shelter for who knows how long while waiting to see what will become of their home, livelihoods and broken personal lives.

Thank you all so much for your generosity, kindness, prayers and well wishes!

With Gratitude from the bottom of our hearts :-)
