Evie's Dream to own a Hero Arm

Hi my name is Evie I was born with a congenital limb difference. I have no right forearm passed the elbow or right hand.  As a toddler I adapted well and managed to do things in my own way. At an early age I learnt to fasten my own buttons and I was even able to do my own school tie. I have in the past had numerous prosthetic arms all of which I found very uncomfortable and heavy and as I have poor balance I was falling over and hurting myself more whilst wearing them. I am now a teenager,and I am finding rather than wanting to keep asking for help I want to be more independent doing everyday tasks you may take for granted like washing and drying my own hair. I am learning to bake and would love to be able to hold a bowl and stir my mixture at the same time and be able to carry items in both hands rather than trying to balance them on my arm. The Hero arm would increase my independence and allow me to be able to carry out these activities. 
Growing up my parents always encouraged me to not be embarrassed of or hide my arm and mum would often alter my tops and coats to fit my arm, There would be no need for this with a Hero arm. The Hero arm is by the fantastic people at Open bionics and is a 3d printed myoelectric arm that is custom made for each individual. It is lightweight unlike my previous prosthetics and has room for growth and it is very robust. Unfortunately the cost of a Hero arm is between £10,000 and £13,000 any donations you could give no matter how small would help towards the payment of this life changing arm.
