A few weeks ago, our family was struck with tragedy. Evie, 13 years old, suffered an ischemic stroke while riding the bus home from school. Evie’s friends sprang into action, called 911, and she was rushed by ambulance to the hospital.

Hello, everyone. This is Nick, Evie's Uncle.

Evie spent the first weeks after the stoke at Texas Children's Neurocritical ICU while various tests and procedures were performed. Luckily, we now have a positive prognosis and she's been moved to the inpatient rehab unit. Evie has at least a year of recovery and rehabilitation in front of her. As you can imagine, my brother Chris and his family's lives have now changed forever. Shellie, Evie's mother, will be taking a leave of absence from work to help with the recovery plan and they will be limited to a single income during this time. Anything we raise on this platform will go towards the various treatment plans and associated expenses they will inevitably incur.
