Those who donated $25 or more on Friday, March 8 through Monday, March 11, were invited to join a 2-hour webinar taught by Rebecca Dekker entitled, "Top 3 Barriers to Evidence Based Care: Difficult Individuals, Systems of Oppression, and Trauma."
There will be two identical live webinar options to choose from, and those who can't make it live will be sent the link to the replay (replay will be available for one month). The two live webinar options are:
-Monday, March 25 at 8 PM EST
-Wednesday, March 27 at 11 AM EST
Attendance is good for 2 nursing contact hours, which can also be applied to the CPM certification as well as most doula and CBE certifications.
We are SO excited to teach this webinar and raise funds for an amazing cause in the process!
Join us in donating to the Birth Worker of Color Scholarship Fund, so that we can create a space at the Evidence Based Birth® Conference for people of all walks of life to come together and have shared learning that benefits us all.
Evidence Based Birth® is hosting a conference for birth professionals in Lexington, Kentucky, on September 25-27, 2019. We genuinely want to ensure a diverse perspective and representation at this important event.
We know, that because of systemic racism and prejudice, people of color in the United States experience:
-Higher maternal mortality rates
-Higher stillbirth rates
-Higher infant death rates
As long as these disparities exist, we would like to remove barriers to attending the conference for birth workers of color who want to participate.
"As an African American Midwife in the State of Louisiana, obtaining educational resources, such as evidence based information, training, and quality supplies, can sometimes be a challenge. However, for me, Evidence Based Birth® has helped to make that process less challenging with their expertise in the field of non-biased research, their training, and their commitment to helping me close the gap of racial disparities found in my community. Thanks to Evidence Based Birth®, I am now Closer to Making my Vision of Eliminating Birthing Biases and Bad Outcomes among Women of Color a REALITY! I am forever grateful and appreciative to Evidence Based Birth® for providing me with their training, information, tools, supplies, and services. THANK YOU! -Charlotte Goudeau, LM, CPM, Evidence Based Birth® Instructor
We want to provide 30 full scholarships to birth workers of color who have expressed interest in attending the 2019 Evidence Based Birth® Conference. We would like to be able to cover the costs of not only their registration, but also their hotel and travel expenses!
We have calculated that it will cost, on average, $800 per professional to provide registration, hotel, travel expenses, and meals.
Therefore, we plan to raise $25,000 to cover the conference and travel costs and ensure that these 30 birth workers can participate in the conference.
