Me, my disabled domestic partner, and our animals are in a tough bind. We reside in a 5th wheel R/V. And the owner of our park has been doing renovations for the upcoming year.
After paying him $1000 for rent the first week of August. A few days later he informed us we had until September 8th to vacate. Because the land we are residing on is up next for renovation.
When we asked about previously rennovated spaces in the back. He said he was full up and had no spaces we could move our trailer into.
While we have found a new site. Gaining any traction the past few weeks. Has been absolutely abhorrent.
Back in June I lost my job. My employer cited a two year old accident on my motor vehicle history report when they were doing yearly checks. And fired me for said accident, stating that, it violated company policy.
And while I had a back up source of income at the time. I'm the home healthcare aide to my domestic partner. It wasn't a whole lot to survive on. Even with unemployment. My. UI benefit each week was only $73.
During the period of hardship. Our case manager for the voucher program that my domestic is on with her disability. Informed us that the level of care I provide qualified us for the full-time program.
But with any voucher system, the process has been long and drawn out and affected out income at the moment. Especially in a time where we have to move our entire trailer to a new park that allows R/V residency.
One of the results of this switch cost me the final week of pay from the previous home health care company. Which when I filed for my UI benefits I took that pay into account for an increase of benefits. Which I received.
But the home health care company stiffed me my last payment of $300. They had received a stop order while we were transferring to the new company. And that stop service, legit means STOP SERVICE. After speaking with our poit of contact there. They informed me, I would not be receiving any pay for the last five days I logged care notes.
When I asked UI if I coukd amend my voucher to reflect that. They said reopening my case would freeze any future UI payments. I'm like a week or two away from finally being onboarded with this new company. And we do not have the resources in order freeze benefits to chase $185 at this time seeing as I did receive $115 from UI this previous week.
I'm still in the onboarding process with the other company. And I can't even afford the CPR course at this point. My car payment has fallen behind a few weeks. I need to renew my insurance policy so I can show proof of insurance to the new home healthcare company. And the new park has a $43/person application fee.
The two of us have been donating plasma. But my partner keeps running into issues with that. Either do to the medications she takes, being a diabetic, or the center claiming her veins are bad. She can't catch a break trying to help contribute financially.
She receives her disability benefit on the 26th/27th this month depending on the holiday. Which is funding most of our move. But we still haven't found a company to help us move our trailer either. Our next option is renting a 3/4 Ton Truck with a 5th Wheel hitch from Enterprise. And just doing it ourself. But the rental cost with deposit starts at $400.
Every bit of planning I've made for this move. Had backfired in my face. I'm at my wits end. I can barely afford to take care of us both when everything keeps blowing up like this.
