Everything is Ruined Help Save our House?

Hi, We are a Family of 5 and Flooded out from Hurricane Ian. We live in Oviedo Florida.

Water started coming into our home from the St John's River and stayed inside our home for 19 Days, and what the water didn't destroy the mold covered.

The BIGGEST HEARTBREAK we found out is if we can't pay to raise our home, we will be forced to tear it down.

We are discovering that to be issued permits to rebuild a “Substantially Damaged Home”, we will be required to raise the house 12 inches above the 100-year flood plain.

The cost to raise our house will be around $200,000, and the flood insurance will only cover $30,000 for what is called Increased Cost of Compliance in the FEMA NFIP National Flood Insurance Program Coverage. We need a net of $170,000 to raise the house before we can start to rebuild.

I always thought, "I have flood insurance, I will be okay if anything were to ever happen." I was wrong. There is a whole litany of things they don't cover.
