Hi, my name is Ksenya, and I'm Leo's mom.

Writing these words is one of the hardest things I've ever had to write. I never imagined I would find myself asking others for help, but today I'm putting my pride aside for my son.

Leo is a happy little boy with the brightest smile and an incredible determination to keep trying, even when things are hard. His journey began with unexpected challenges. At birth, he suffered a severe hypoxic brain injury and a cervical spinal cord injury.

Since then, Leo has endured multiple hospitalizations, surgeries, and countless medical appointments. Through it all, he continues to surprise us with his resilience. Every smile, every effort, and every tiny achievement reminds us just how hard he is willing to fight.

Over the past year, we've learned that while there is no cure for Leo's condition, early and consistent rehabilitation can make a meaningful difference. Every new movement, every small achievement, and every developmental milestone is something he has to work incredibly hard to accomplish.

After months of searching, we found a rehabilitation program that we truly believe gives Leo the best opportunity to continue making progress. His treatment plan includes ongoing therapy throughout the year, together with intensive rehabilitation sessions designed to help him build strength, improve his abilities, and develop new skills.

We've already begun this journey, and we've learned that progress doesn't happen overnight. It comes one small step at a time. We've already seen small but meaningful changes—little improvements that may seem ordinary to others but mean everything to our family. Every new movement, every little gain in strength or control, is another reason to keep believing in what's possible.

As Leo grows, his therapy needs will continue to change. Some periods require more intensive treatment than others, and the amount of therapy he needs may increase as he progresses. In addition to rehabilitation, Leo also requires specialized medical equipment and adaptive devices, many of which are only partially funded—or not funded at all. Even when financial assistance is available, families are often left with significant out-of-pocket expenses.

Our goal is not simply to pay for one course of therapy. It is to give Leo consistent access to the rehabilitation, therapies, and equipment he needs throughout his journey, so that financial limitations never become the reason he misses an opportunity to grow.
