Every Second Counts: Help Lolo Get Life-Saving Treatment Now

As parents, our greatest fear is seeing our children hurt or ill. For Lorenzo ("Lolo"), a beautiful 11-year-old boy, this fear has been a relentless reality since last year.
Lolo is the only child of Vivian and David. Diagnosed with nonverbal autism at age 3, he has already overcome incredible challenges. But in February 2024, everything changed after a simple bout of the flu.
The cheerful, adventurous boy who loved traveling and animals vanished. He became restless, crying inconsolably, lashing out aggressively, and harming himself and others. He regressed in school, lost his hard-earned toilet training, and began injuring his fingers and teeth. The worst part of all is that he has tried to harm himself several times.
After extensive testing, Lolo was diagnosed with PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections)—a condition where the immune system mistakenly attacks brain cells, triggering severe neuropsychiatric symptoms.
It’s been a living nightmare.
For eight months, he’s undergone treatments—antibiotics, corticosteroids, antihistamines, ibuprofen—but nothing has worked. Over the past six weeks, his condition has deteriorated drastically.
Doctors now recommend plasmapheresis, a procedure to filter harmful antibodies from his blood. This could be his best chance to halt the progression of his illness. But time is running out—prolonged inflammation may cause irreversible brain damage.
Vivian and David are fighting tirelessly, but the emotional, physical, and financial strain is overwhelming. We want to ease one burden: the crushing medical costs, so they can focus entirely on saving Lolo.
This treatment is expensive and unavailable in their home country (Colombia), requiring international travel. That’s why we’re reaching out to our big-hearted family, friends, and community. Your support will fund Lolo’s treatment, travel, and expenses—giving him a fighting chance to recover.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, prayers, and generosity during this devastating time. No amount is too small, and if you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign means the world.
