Hi, I’m Charis, founder of Lady Power Inc., and this mission is deeply personal to me and rooted in faith in God.

I had an unmedicated birth in water with my son Asher at a birth center, supported by my midwife Chelsie, who first served as a doula. It was peaceful, empowering, virtually pain-free, and transformative. I felt seen, supported, and most importantly, safe. I believe my faith in God, the finished work of Christ, and the right support made that experience possible.

That experience showed me what is possible when women have faith, education, and the right support.

But too many mothers—especially women of African descent and underserved mothers here in Houston—do not have access to that kind of care.

And that gap can be deadly.

We are doing something about it.

Through Lady Power Inc., we help bridge the gap by funding free access to evidence-based maternal care through:

Prenatal doula and midwifery support

Birth and postpartum support

Evidence-based maternal education

Advocacy resources for mothers in need

Community support initiatives like our Mama Power Baby Shower

Research shows doulas and midwives improve outcomes for mothers and babies, including safer births, lower interventions, lower pain, stronger bonding, and better maternal mental health.
