Every Coy - Deliverista Injury Fund

My name is Ever Coy and I am 33 years old. I am from Guatemala and I have been living in Bay Ridge for more than eight years.

Since 2014, I have been contributing to this country with my labor as a dishwasher, farm worker, construction worker and most recently as delivery worker.

I came to this country to build my dream of a better life for my brothers, my mom and my father. I have been working hard to help my parents build their home and doing everything I can to support my 11 brothers and sisters.

I have been working more than 12 hours a day as a delivery worker to achieve my dreams and to be able to support my family. I have been giving everything I have to this country that I consider my second home.

Unfortunately, this Monday, February 13, 2023 I got hit by the driver of a U-Haul truck in Bay Ridge while heading to work with Relay as a delivery worker. I am very sad that this is happening to me. My leg got seriously injured and the doctors have said that I won’t be able to walk for 6-7 months. This means I won’t be able to work, pay my rent, my food and other personal expenses.

It’s very difficult for me to ask for support, but I have no other choice than to create this fund and hopefully count with your solidarity to get through this difficult moment in my life.

This fund will help me cover my personal expenses while I recover from my injuries and can return to the streets as a Delivery worker.
