Hi, I'm Chris Hayhurst, and with my California artist family and Traci Sprague at the helm, I produced a tour of a one-man show called Every Brilliant Thing. About the show:

The show is a heartwarming, gorgeous, and self-aware look at the very serious topic of suicide and how it has a long-lasting rippling impression on the people left behind in the wake. But don't worry, it's funny.

Written by Duncan McMillan, this unique play follows the life of a child of a suicidal parent. It chronicles the various transitions and transformations his family system makes as they navigate their pain, growth, and ultimately their attempt at rebirth. It asks the questions, how do we intelligently and sensitively talk about death by suicide? and do how we navigate the loss in the aftermath? This project is of great importance to me because of the awareness that it brings to mental illness.

Fear and hopelessness are leading causes of isolation, and isolation is the greatest cause of death by suicide. I think the greatest tool to combat isolation is to let others know they are not alone. In a word, to bring focus to community. To help people feel seen and heard. This play does just that with its unique awareness of the human condition and using humor as an unlikely vehicle for its message.
