Every £1 feeds a child. Help us feed 100,000 children and their families in 100 hours.

In communities across the world, thousands of children go to bed hungry every night. In Lagos, we see it every single day: children sleeping on the streets, children who don't know when their next meal will come.

And behind so many of those children is a mother, a father or a grandmother quietly going without. They skip meals so their children can eat. They say they've already eaten. They go to bed hungry so their little ones don't have to.

I believe no Nigerian child, and no person, should go to bed hungry. Food is one of the most basic of human rights, not a privilege, and that's part of the passion that drives me as the originator of the Sabi Chef feed-a-thon.

Almost a year ago, my team and I went to Oko-Agbon in Makoko, a community built on water in Lagos. We fed 1,000 children in less than an hour. The joy, gratitude and relief we witnessed in those children and their families are memories that will last me a lifetime. Last year we took that experience to Ikeja City Mall, where chefs and communities came together to celebrate food, culture and community.

And this year, we're going even bigger.
From 25 to 29 November, at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, we will feed 100,000 people in 100 continuous hours. Chefs will cook around the clock for children and their families, including the Makoko families we first fed. For once, no one at the table will have to choose who eats.

It's our step towards the United Nations' Global Sustainable Development Goal number 2: Zero Hunger and Right to Food.

What your gift does
Each nutritious meal costs us just 98p. A few pounds means a mother can sit down and eat with her children, instead of watching them eat.

Our first target is £5,500, enough for more than 5,500 meals. Our full goal is £100,000: a meal for every one of the 100,000 people we plan to feed.
• £5 feeds a family of five
• £20 feeds 20 people
• £50 feeds 50 people
• £100 feeds 100 people

Who's behind it
The Feed-a-thon is led by the incredible Sábi Chẹf team, and supported by UN Volunteers Nigeria, the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems, the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, LASAA, Surulere Local Government, InnerCity Mission for Children and the African & Caribbean Heritage Food Network.

We are seeking to register the event as a Record attempt. Not for the title, but so the world pays attention to children and families who are too often unseen. What matters most is that every child, and every person who cares for them, is fed.

If we go beyond our goal
Anything raised beyond our £100,000 goal will help us feed even more families. Beyond that, we intend to build a public toilet for the Oko Agbon community in Makoko. Safe sanitation will protect the health of the same families we feed.

Follow along
We'll post updates and photos before, during and after the 100 hours, so you can see the plates your gift has filled and the families sitting down to eat together.

Something this big can't be done by one person. Please give what you can, and share this page with your friends and family. Every plate counts.

As we say here in Nigeria: no be small thing oo!
