Everly's Heart

As many of you may or may not know, our granddaughter, Everly was hospitalized a week after birth due to what we thought was reflux - Melissa and Steven had taken her to the ER for lack of eating and being a bit lethargic. During that ER visit they decided to admit her for having “dusky” episodes. The following day, we were informed that she has a cardiac condition called Pulmonary Valve Stenosis. Basically, the pulmonary artery in her heart, which pumps blood to the lungs has an obstruction. Her cardiologist said it was not a severe enough case that required Any intervention but he would continue to monitor her. Since that hospitalization in June, She has been seen with that same cardiologist every three weeks but this last appointment things did not go as we’d hoped. We were informed that her condition has progressed and due to the nature of her heart working overtime to accommodate that obstruction, she now has a second obstruction underneath due to muscle growth. Our sweet Everly will be having her first (and hopefully only) heart procedure on the 29th of this month. Unfortunately, with their medical insurance, they have a very large deductible and her procedure and hospital costs are much more than expected.
