"Even through troubled waters, God is with you" Isaiah 43:2
Below are words from Erica:
"Our firecracker of a girl, Everly, has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma Cancer. It is at a level M stage, almost the worst stage, but still treatable and curable. It is present in the form of a large mass near her right lung and a few other areas of her body. The doctors will treat everything at once as it is aggressive and high-risk. She will have 5 Cycles of Chemo, have surgery to remove what they can afterward, have a Stem Cell Transplant, and, lastly, undergo local radiation. God-willing, she will be cancer free at the end of these 24 months, but either way, she's going to beat this, and we will eventually bring her home for good & throw one hell of a celebration party! Please keep praying for her little body as she fights this disease, for Blakely as she tries to process everything & for John & myself as we face this time head-on with immense fear and uncertainty on the road ahead."
From friends and family:
If you know our friend Erica, then you’ve probably received a “how are you, luv?” text at random, but always at the right time… Or, just a call to chat about the craziness of life and to have a perfect laugh about nothing and everything all wrapped into one. You’ve also probably received a delivery of warm cookies if she knew you were feeling down. And, I’m sure they were at your door before a tear ever fell… with ice cream on top. This is our friend and her huge heart.
On Sunday, Aug. 7, we received a very different kind of message from her, “Guys, I need you more than ever right now.” Erica and her 3-year-old daughter, Everly, were being life-flighted from Ocean City, MD, where their family had just arrived on vacation, to DC Children’s Hospital. They thought it might be cancer, and those fears were confirmed a couple of days later.
Everly has already started chemotherapy treatment in less than a week, and still, the only things Erica and John have on them are the suitcases they packed for their beach vacation…Life truly happens in an instant, and life is happening now.
Friends and family have reached out asking for ways they could help, and along with prayers, this is the next best thing. The family will be traveling back and forth from Dallas to DC. Your donations will help with medical bills, travel, lodging, and everything else that comes with the burden of their family being separated during this difficult time.
Thank you for anything you can do to ease the minds of Erica and John so they can stay focused on their sweet girls!
