Everleigh, born on December 28th, 2021, is a beautiful seven month old baby girl belonging to my very dear friend Morgan Gilmore. Prior to her arrival there were no health concerns for this precious baby, but unfortunately that has changed. At around three months old, Morgan noticed that she was having issues with her vision. She would stare off into space and not look at faces or track objects. After seeing an ophthalmologist it was ruled that her eyes are physically fine. As a few more weeks followed, it was clear that Everleigh was not reaching typical milestones that were expected such as, sitting up, smiling, rolling over, etc. Everleigh was admitted to Golisano’s Children’s Hospital at the end of June and it was determined, through EEG and CAT scans, that she has ventriculogmegaly, mega cisterna magna, and brain stem abnormalities. What this means is that Everleigh’s brain is in a constant seizure state. Her cerebellum (which controls movement, coordination, and balance) is not fully developed and there is a cyst like fluid sac in the spot where her cerebellum should have grown. There is also extra fluid present in the ventricles of the brain. The neurologists feel she has a rare genetic disorder. Everleigh will see a geneticist at the end of August to determine the root cause of these issues. Unfortunately, Everleigh has had a couple of more serious episodes since the end of June and was readmitted to Golisano’s at the beginning of August. The neurology team informed Morgan that her brain could take a year to a year and a half to regulate itself, so episodes are likely to keep occurring. Medication is adjusted, as episodes occur to try to find the right balance for little Everleigh’s system.

Morgan is a single mother that has just begun her career as a hair stylist and hopes to continue on this track. However, as more serious episodes occur, this will impact Morgan’s ability to work. Morgan and her family feel as if it would be in Everleigh’s best interest to have one on one daily care. This is costly. Morgan is one of the kindest, and most genuine people I have the pleasure of calling my friend, and is the first person to help anyone in need. Not only would Morgan give the shirt off of her back to absolutely anyone, but her parents have been a giving fixture to the Auburn and Union Springs communities for decades. If we could help relieve just a little bit of financial stress that is weighing on this family, it would make a world of difference. There are still many unknown factors in Ev’s journey, but we will keep you updated as more information becomes available from the different medical teams that are caring for her. All funds donated at this time will go directly to help Morgan cover the cost of medical visits, living and caretaking expenses. Thank you all so much for your continued support and prayers.
