Everett's Team Canada Dragon Boat Fund

Hello, my name is Everett Weaver. I am 14 years old and have been selected to represent Team Canada on the U16 team at the World’s Dragon Boat Championships this July in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany.

I started dragon boating in 2022 when I was 11 years old. At the time, I didn’t know much about the sport—my parents signed me up for the Stratford Juniors Dragon Boat Team spring-summer session to help me stay active after hockey season ended. But after just a couple of months, I completely fell in love with dragon boating.

In 2023, I was given the opportunity to begin training with the goal of competing for a place on the U16 Team Canada. Since then, I’ve been training consistently with my amazing Coach Ken Gene. For the past year and a half, I’ve been fully committed to the Team Canada tryout process. I work out 4–5 days a week chasing this dream that has helped me grow both physically and mentally.

To help make this trip possible, I’m currently fundraising to cover travel, accommodation, and competition costs. Unfortunately, dragon boating is not a government-funded sport in Canada, which means athletes are responsible for covering all individual personal expenses.
