Everett's Fight: Born at Just 1 lb 4.5 oz

On May 12th our lives drastically changed. At only 23 weeks pregnant our small fierce baby was brought into this world weighing only 1 lb 4.5 oz. They consider the cut off for viable life of a preemie at 24 weeks weighing 500 grams. Everett was 550 grams, they believed he was worth fighting for. Every day since he has fought as hard as his little body will allow. He has overcame NEC, kidney issues, jaundice. His oxygen continues to fluctuate but lately is taking a turn for the worse. He has been on steroids to help his lungs because they are underdeveloped. As they wean him off the steroids he is becoming more reliant on oxygen. All of this is being cause because of a hole in his heart. They have tried different medications in hopes that the hole will close with no luck. As of right now they are talking about transferring him to a different hospital that is 35 minutes away so he can undergo a procedure to place a device to stop the blood flowing through that hole. Right now his lungs are getting too much blood and fluid and it’s causing him to swell in the upper parts of his body. He is stronger than I have ever had to be in my life. On top of all of that he currently has a fractured arm as well. We are trying to raise money to take away the financial burden of bills, gas money and just day to day life. We will be organizing a Benefit dinner as well so anything will help. We will be also accepting donations of baskets or food for the dinner.
