On November 28th Everett Gordon was diagnosed with T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He went into the ER to get checked after a dirt bike crash he was in on Nov.24th, little did we know that crash would save his life. After 27 hours in the ER lots of test and waiting he was transferred to Sutter's Bone Marrow Transplant Unit. Everett never got the chance to go home, change out of work clothes, or process what was happening to him. It all went so fast. Due to the speed and aggressive nature of this cancer the doctor told us the bike crash saved his life. He would have made it maybe another 30 days before the Leukemia took him from us. He has one hell of a battle ahead. Everett will be in the hospital for the next 6 weeks on an aggressive pediatric chemotherapy treatment plan. Being young and healthy allowed Everett to go this route instead of the normal adults treatment plan. The pediatric gives him a 80% chance at 5 year remission verses the adult of 50-60%. Everett will go thru several rounds of these 6 weeks stays to fight off the cancer. He will be in and out of the hospital for the next year. He will be unable to work or care for himself. If you know Everett, you know he is there for everyone. He never turned down a family or a friend in need. Everett is happy to help a buddy repair a truck or haul something. Everett truly loves being a heavy equipment mechanic and has dreams of one day having his own business. He loves camping, working on his beloved truck "Ruby", and being outdoors. When his younger brother was in a horrific accident this summer Everett was there for him. He took him to therapy, rides to and from school, and just hanging out. He found a truck for Jace and ensured all the repairs were done and it was safe for his brother. Everett showed hogs in 4-H and graduated from El Dorado High School. Every winter he volunteers with a local program that does Christmas gifts and food boxes for families in need. He truly wants to help others. Everett and his wonderful girlfriend Emma are just starting their life together. We want to make sure they can continue on that path once he has won this battel. Being unable to work, the medical bills, and things that will need to be done to ensure a safe homecoming are adding up quickly. Please help support Everett and his family in this time of uncertainty. there are several ways to help, donate to his go fund me, donate blood, or become a Bone Marrow donor. Everett will need blood transfusions during his fight, and your blood donation can help replace what Everett has used. There is a strong possibility he may need a bone marrow transplant, register to be a donor and save a life. To sign up go to Be the Match. Everett has a Caring Bridge page where you can follow along with his progress. https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/everettgordon
