Everesting for EARTH
Donation protected
Hi my name is Eve, I am raising funds and awareness to help non-profit charity's and foundations protect our precious environment! Supporting those who are already taking actions to save native forests, protect animals and rebuild our land. If we don't do this now what will be left for future generations?
With this Go Fund Me page I will support the Bob Brown Foundation & the Wilderness Society. These charities are in alignment with our wilderness and ecosystems at their forefront. Bob brown is an inspiration and has dedicated the last 50 years and the future to saving our wilderness through direct action, having a voice for the people, helping us to stand up for what we know is right. They need our help to stop the Australian gov from destroying ancient forests in Tasmania and protect all species. They have to go to court with the Federal gov & tas gov to make this happen and that costs money. If they weren’t doing we would have lost it all by now to complete land clearing for mining & logging.
The wilderness Society and also working to secure strong national laws that actually protect our environment, stop deforestation of native forest and bushland, creating protected national park status for wild lands, stop mining from destroying precious and diverse ecosystems and more.
I am commiting to a huge challenge to complete 12 Everesting Cycling Challenge each month for 12 months raise funds and awareness. What is an Everest? The concept of Everesting is fiendishly simple yet brutally hard: Pick any hill, anywhere in the world and complete repeats of it in a single activity until you climb 8,848m – the equivalent height of Mt Everest. Its the hardest climbing challenge in the world.
Why would I do something so ridiculous?! Seems a bit drastic! I decided I could no longer sit around shedding tears for our planet's health. I had to do something. I knew one attempt would not be enough to make change so im it it for the long haul and all the pain that will bring with it!
With your help I want to be a part in protecting our precious environment. The best and most efficient thing we can do is to help those who are already taking action. What will your children and your grandchildren be left with? Will they know a world where nature is thriving, where they can sit amongst the trees, play in the bush, explore remote places and go camping? Where they can swim in the ocean, a river or a beautiful lake and spot different species of birds and animals. Watch little mr skippy hop along, see a koala munching on eucalyptus goodness, a dolphin arching with joy??? We need to support those who are working tirelessly to save these pristine places.
We can make a difference with little changes in our own lifestyle to.
Most environmental protection groups and charities rely on our donations and are doing things purely out of the passion in their hearts as volunteers. For example The Bob Brown Foundation has people from around the country, putting their own future at risk to protect the Tarkine Rainforest in the north/west of Tasmania. The Tarkine is the 2nd largest temperate rainforest in the world, home to more than 60 species of rare, threatened and endangered species, there are wet eucalypt forest areas where trees grow taller that 41 meters high! Fossils between 100-700 million years old have been found here! This is more than just a special place, the Tarkine rainforests perhaps one of the richest natural carbon sinks in Australia, holding over a staggering 100 million tonnes of carbon – a highly valuable asset in today's world of climate change.... Our native forest should be protected. Out of all of the philanthropy funds raised in Australia only 1% go to Environmental causes!
