Class of 2016 Study Trip

At Everest Public High School, we have a mission that guides and defines our work: to prepare a diverse student body for success in college and career, and to become thoughtful, contributing members of society. The Everest Class of 2016 is a group of hard-working, motivated students, who are close to achieving that very mission. Many of them will be the first in their family to attend college.

Every year at Everest, we take our students on Study Trips to learn about college and explore real-world applications of our curriculum. For Seniors, we have traditionally taken our students on a trip to Ashland, OR. This trip provides students with a curricular connection to their AP Literature class, as we will be seeing a production of Twelfth Night at Oregon Shakespeare Festival; it provides students with a curricular connection to their AP Government class, as we visit the Shasta Dam on the drive north; it provides students with a curricular connection to their AP Environmental Science class, as we visit an organic farm in Oregon and learn about sustainable farming techniques. Furthermore, the trip provides students with an authentic opportunity to celebrate the success they have achieved in four years at our school, and reflect on the journey they have undergone together.

These students deserve the best possible experience for this Study Trip -- words cannot describe the amount of work and effort they have put in to get here, and to have such a wonderful opportunity to celebrate it together means a great deal to them, and to us, their teachers.

Our trip is on April 27th - 29th, and we are hoping to raise enough funds to help cover for an unfortunate price increase in the cost of tickets for the play (Twelfth Night) this year. In addition, the past two years, we have been able to rent a bus, so that students can experience all parts of the trip together, including the drive. We are hoping to raise enough money for this bus through the GoFundMe to lessen the amount that students need to contribute themselves.  We plan to run this fundraiser for one month, before we ask students and parents for their contributions.
