Help Us Help Aston – Climbing for a Cause
On 10th December 2024, young Aston Bevington received a life-changing diagnosis: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ETP-ALL) – a rare and aggressive form of cancer. With chemo-resistant proteins making treatment even more complex, Aston’s battle is tougher than most.
Right now, Aston is receiving specialist treatment in Singapore, giving him the best chance of survival – but it comes at a significant cost.
Here in Porthcawl, our Fire Station stands at the heart of the community, and we've been overwhelmed by the kindness and support shown not just locally, but from far and wide. We want to give back – to Aston and his family – and show that they’re not alone in this fight.
So here’s what we’re doing:
Firefighters from Porthcawl Fire Station are taking on an epic challenge – climbing the equivalent of Mount Everest: 8,849 metres – on ladders!
This will happen during Rescue Fest on 21st June 2025, and we need YOU to be part of it.
Come down, cheer us on, and show your support for a brave young boy who just wants to return to sunny Porthcawl, lace up his boots, and get back on the pitch playing the sports he loves – Rugby and Football.
Let’s climb for Aston. Let’s fight with him.
Together, we can make a difference.
