Hi Guys. This GoFundMe is for my friend. Her name is Evelyn. She’s pretty amazing. She lives in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. She has a big heart and loves dogs. She is very gifted, very blessed and very smart. Smart enough that she qualified for a full scholarship at her university. With that, she decided to do a degree in psychology. But, unfortunately the scholarship didn’t include the cost of the graduation. Thus this project.
Not only did she graduate with ‘A’s, but that was despite employment being hard to find and not having a constant job. She would just work cleaning houses when that was available. When she started at the university, she took classes all day, 6 days a week! (For real. SMH). She would have to travel on a bus over an hour to the school (...in a third world country there are more than just people on the buses. Just sayin’). She has been robbed at gunpoint several times. Quite often she didn’t have any money for food. She has been hospitalized quite a few times. She’s suffered injuries. And unfortunately she has been personally violated. And no matter what, her goal of finishing was her top priority. And like I said, she didn’t just finish, she finished with ‘A’s.
As impressive as that all is, what impresses me the most about Evy is her heart to forgive and her capacity to love. She has managed to genuinely forgive people that have done horrible, unspeakable things to her. I bring this up, because I want for this giving to be more than just someone giving money. I would really love for you all to also offer ENCOURAGEMENT, congratulations, testimonies, LOVE, and to be someone that comes alongside her and CELEBRATES with her. I want her to know that there are good people out there that love her and appreciate her. And that there are people that know how to HONOR her and her accomplishments. This way, at a minimum, if the goal isn’t reached, at least she will have all the messages of love, celebration and SUPPORT to read and reread. Basically, ‘this’ would be her celebration. And you get to be that crazy family in the bleachers with banners and blow horns cheering her on. Because in all honesty, apart from her younger sister and 9 year old nephew and me, she doesn’t really have anyone else.
