Evelyn Khaing's Senior Thesis Film

Hi everyone!

My name is Evelyn Khaing and I’m a senior studying film at Pratt Institute. I grew up in Taiwan and prior to moving to New York, I spent a couple years in the small Canadian town Victoria. While my stay was brief, I had the chance to live in a house with five other girls. The transition from Taiwan to Canada was challenging and unexpected, making my friendships grow deeper. As I've been reflecting on this pivotal time in my life I find myself reminiscing on those memories.

I’m making a film to highlight the transitional moments between late teens and early adulthood all while navigating new friends and romantic relationships. I want to create a piece rooted in my nostalgia, and use this film as an homage to my younger self. I've challenged myself by not writing this film in my own perspective but in the ones of my close friends from that time.

This film highlights the shift from idealistic teen years to an intentional young adulthood. I want to include the joys of living with your best friends and recklessly partying, to waking up the next morning deciding where you’ll end up in ten years.
