Evelyn & Hannah -- Stuck in China

Hello, I am Brianna, a friend of Evelyn Li.
So Evelyn and her sister Hannah have been in China since September, studying the Chinese language and immersing themselves in the culture. As American born Chinese women, this has been an incredible experience for Evelyn and Hannah to connect to their roots and this fundamental piece of their identities.
As you probably know, China was the first country in the world to experience coronavirus and was the epicenter of the outbreak. Like most of us, Hannah and Evelyn expected this disease to affect their way of life for a period of time; they figured it would pass by the time they were ready to leave China in June.
As most of you have also probably experienced, coronavirus has had a much larger--and longer--impact on our lives than anyone expected it to. Now Hannah and Evelyn are trying to return back to the states, and have faced huge amounts of complications. They have had four flights cancelled, forcing them to continue to pay for hotels and food for many more days than expected. Most recently, they checked out of their hotel and made their way to the airport with negative covid tests and a sense of optimism--they were FINALLY leaving--only to be told that they couldn't leave, and had to miss their flight. They got a partial refund, but with flights from China to America being so expensive, they still lost thousands.
The current outlook isn't great... they still aren't sure when and how they will return to the United States, or how long they will have to continue to pay for food and hotels abroad. Among miscommunication from the government, cancelled flights, and a very uncertain outlook for getting home, the financial burden of staying in China and booking, having to cancel, and rebook flights has been huge. My hope for this fundraiser is that it will help Evelyn and Hannah pay for their hotel stays, covid tests (necessary to fly home, but extra expensive at international hospitals), and most importantly the money they've lost on cancelled and rebooked flights.
I hope you'll join me in bringing a bit of comfort to Hannah and Evelyn by taking some financial burden off of them. Thank you in advance!!
