Natalie Radwanski's Cancer Fund
Meet my sister Natalie, a young mother to two beautiful boys, Jacob (6) and Michael (2). She has been going through a rough time for about a year. She’s going through a divorce and hasn’t received any financial or emotional help with raising the boys from her estranged spouse in months. Natalie lost her home due to foreclosure in September 2016 and was forced to move herself and her boys in with our parents to keep a roof over their heads. She was starting to get back on her feet when she went to see her doctor in December for pain on the left side of her chest. Natalie thought she pulled a muscle from lifting Michael on her left side all the time. That appointment led to a mammogram, which led to a biopsy, which led to a diagnosis of Stage IV breast cancer. No one saw this coming. It wasn’t even a blip on the radar. Breast cancer doesn’t run in our family. *Edit: Since I created this original description Natalie has received the results of a bone biopsy on her hip, her cancer has officially been downgraded to Stage 3. The spot found on her hip bone is not cancerous!
Her treatment plan includes 16 weeks of chemo therapy, a mastectomy – possibly a double mastectomy, and 5 weeks of radiation. Natalie has 90 days of incrementally decreasing short-term disability which began on February 16, 2017; once these 90 days are up she’ll have no money coming in. She will be able to keep her insurance because it’s a medically necessary leave of absence, however, in order to keep her insurance once the paychecks stop, Natalie will be sent a bill every month, she has no idea as to how she will be able to pay this monthly premium. As great as it is that she will be keeping her insurance we know that it will not likely cover every medical expense she accrues during her treatment. In addition to the insurance premium, Natalie has other debts to pay and two children to feed and clothe! She will literally be choosing which bills to pay and which to ignore.
Please help me to help Natalie and her children. The more positive she can be during this trying time, her physical and emotional health will benefit, not to mention her children. If Natalie is not worrying about her finances, she can put all of her attention on beating cancer and watching her children grow.
Thank you.
