OPEN THE WORLD TO MOLOKAI STUDENTS!

Donation protected
Students in the Molokai High School College Career Club (MC3) will travel to the Pacific Northwest to visit world-class universities and career sites in Fall 2022. We are asking for your donation to help “open their world”.

Molokai Challenges
- 56% of Molokai students live at or below the U.S. poverty line
- 10% unemployment, the highest in the State of Hawaii and more than double the U.S. average
- 79% indigenous Native Hawaiian population
- 22% of residents are college graduates
- 75% of students receive free or reduced lunch

As you can see, our students and families need to glimpse the potential of the more fantastic world outside our isolated rural island community. In turn, our students bring indigenous knowledge to an increasingly complex world. Your gift will help our impoverished students raise funds and, more importantly, encourage them into the greater society.

Molokai remains an island with a simple Hawaiian lifestyle for its approximately 7,300 residents. We are home to the largest percentage of Native Hawaiian people in our state. However, with limited economic opportunities, the hardships of fundraising within a limited pool of available monies for all student activities burden our student families and our community.

MCCTC is committed to its fourth year of taking our students out into the world despite the huge undertaking and efforts such a trip presents. The blossoming of our students in the new opportunities provided, the bonding, networking, and connecting to adults from different walks of life and the sowing of personal growth for each student are compelling reasons for the continuance of the program.

College visits have included:
New York University
Columbia University
Yale University

Our multi-ethnic students bring values that help bridge differences among diverse cultures. Their fresh perspective and openness have already touched academics, administrators, and business professionals. Each student has also received immeasurable benefits from their travel experiences which have led them to higher education.

All of our MCCTC graduates are currently attending colleges across the United States. Traveling with MCCTC gave them the self-confidence and assurance that there is a place for them in the greater world. Their colleges include:

University of San Francisco
University of San Diego
Menlo College
Grand Canyon University
Hawaii Pacific University
Seattle University
University of Hawaii, West Oahu
Pomona College

Your donations will “open the world” by tapping tangible and unseen intangible positive potential. Aloha and Mahalo.

HOW THE MONEY WILL BE SPENT

MCCTC has taken students a few times to New York City and once to the San Francisco Bay Area on college and career tours for $2,500/person. We have traveled with Go Campusing for the last few years and will continue to utilize their services. The total cost of the trip includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, ground transportation, and daily meals. In addition, travelers pay for meals not covered by the travel company and added cultural and historic excursions.

EVERY DONATION COUNTS NO MATTER THE AMOUNT!!!

YOUR DONATION WILL HELP OUR STUDENTS REACH THEIR GOAL!

Thank you for your donation!

These students represent all that is possible when they have people like you to support their dreams.

Help us to spread the aloha and open the world by sharing this request with others! Mahalo and a heartfelt thank you.
