Eva is going to need surgeries and therapy for her fingers.
Saturday December 22.
Sweet little Eva, 4 year old, was at birthday party across the street.
She is a happy, adventures, and playful little girl. She is a ball of
love, hugs, and a nurturer.
She got to the birthday party at the tail end of it and the little kids
were about to go on a little train ride. (A riding lawn mower pulling an
bunch a bucket train carts.) They have used this train carts many, many
times. When they started off her finger hand was outside the cart on the ground like many of the other children. But when the carts started to go her little fingers got sucked into the tires rim where a lock pin keeps the tire on. The pin rotated like a blender and tore up two of her fingers very severally.
An Ambulance was called and she was rushed to the hospital. After
looking at the fingers, the staff quickly made calls to a group of specialized hand surgeons for traumatic injuries. Her middle
finger had two large gashes in them, but her ring finger was the worst. it was slit open from the top of her finger the the bottom of it. The
emergency room Doctors where iffy about if they could save the ring finger.
Surgery was held later that evening and the Surgeon is optimistic that
he was able to save the finger. They had to cut off all the flesh on the
front of her finger, create a new tendon, and did a skin graft from the
back of another finger. Her two fingers are stitched together so blood
will flow to the finger to keep the skin graft alive.
She will need 1 or 2 more surgeries depending on how the finger is
healing. She will therapy on the finger to get it working again. All the
nerves in the finger were destroyed.
This was an unfortunate time for the family being that it is at the end
of the year to hit their medical deductibles and just to have it start
over January 1st. The Father hit an Elk 2 nights earlier and had serve
damage to the vehicle. The day before their house got flooded from
excessive irrigation. Their teenage daughter just injured her ankle 3
weeks earlier.
This is a sweet and happy family of 7. They are always finding ways to
reach out in the community and help those who may need a helping hand.
Now they are in need of help paying for surgeries and doctor visits and
any other things that may come with it.
I'm sure the Offen family will greatly appreciate any help.
