May of 2010, Evan Taylor was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). Visit after visit getting chemo for 3 and a half years, he finally kept his cancer in remission and was done with treatments by September 2013. (For those of you that dont know, ALL type cancer; is cancer of the immature white blood cells in the bone marrow. Acute meaning the Leukemia can progress quickly, and if not treated, would most likely be fatal in a few months. Lymphoblastic means it developes from early forms of white blood cells. White blood cells are the main cells that make up the immune system and help fight off infections, in Evans case his white blood cells have a mind of their own and are going against his body by multiplying out of control and spilling into his blood stream. ) Now Evan was done with treatments for 17 months up until he went in for his regular check up and they noticed something was a little off. Being the great and cautious doctors they are, they went ahead and scheduled a Lumbar Puncture (Spinal Tap) and a Bone Marrow Aspiration. Three days later, all the lab work was done, and we found out then that his cancer was back! Having to get admitted into the hospital for 2/3 weeks, getting surgery to put his power port back in, another spinal tap and bone marrow aspiration, 3-4 rounds of intense chemo to get in remission. After being in remission, then gets a bone marrow transplant! As you can imagine its pretty costly! So along with medical bills, trying to provide for his family (especially their adorable 10 month old son), not being able to work and having to rely on help, it can get pretty rough.
