On March 20, 2014, Evan Sluder was diagnosed with Stage 2C Testicular Cancer. By the time it was found, it had spread to the abdominal and pelvic area of his body. The year following this discovery has been arduous. The first 4 rounds of chemo that followed had unfortunately failed to work. It was not until he was hospitalized and given the high dose chemo/stem cell transplant that the tumors showed signs of shrinkage. This finally allows him the chance to have surgery. With high hopes, the surgery could rid him of cancer. However, the risks are high too, including losing parts of his intestines or causing damage to his colon. Even more severe possibilities are losing his left leg or left kidney, or even death.
As a loving husband and father to three sweet boys, this has been very hard on the entire family. Constant doctor visits, rounds of chemo, and frequent follow ups have led to expensive medical bills and overwhelming debt. The constant traveling back and forth to Chapel Hill for treatment has put stress on the entire family. We are asking for any donation, large or small, to help alleviate some of this burden. We are grateful for any and all help.Thank you and God bless.
