Evans Family Earthquake Repair

Please consider giving in an effort to assist our friend Dan Evans financially with repairs to the home he owns in Alaska (formerly MCHH, Mountain Chapel Hospitality House). It was very badly damaged in the recent 7.0 earthquake. Thankfully many people have been able to assist Dan in person which will lower the estimated repair costs, but there is still much to be done.
Large cracks run throughout the property measuring one to six inches wide. The foundation has shifted and septic tank is damaged.

Friends,
We wanted to let you know that our former ministry house in Alaska (which we still own and have been renting out) sustained serious structural damage during the earthquake that happened on Nov 30th. As many of you know, the earthquake measured a 7.2 on the Richter scale, and there were upwards of 1200 aftershocks, according to the news. The structural engineer who evaluated our home said it was the most damaged of all the homes he had evaluated.
I (Dan) immediately flew to Alaska to assess the damage and see what could be done to save the home. I have put my ministry activities on hold while I manage this crisis. What I do know is that this will undoubtedly be a major financial loss/hardship for our family. The loss could range anywhere from $20,000-$300,000, and at this point there is a lot that is unknown. We did not have earthquake insurance (like most Alaskans) and we don’t know what state or federal aid may be available to us.
We are so thankful that our renters are safe and sound and that none of our AK friends or family were injured or killed in this devastating earthquake. The tenants are moving out today. Please pray that I have wisdom in making financial decisions, hiring contractors, and making repairs. Please pray for my family & ministry back home in Utah during my extended absence.
