Evan's Racing Adventures - European Edition!
Hi! My name is Evan Larson, I go to Redlands High School and was born and raised in Redlands, California just like 3 generations of my family before me. At RHS I am an AP student, top 5% of my class, and a leader in the music program. After high school, I am looking forward to college and earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a concentration in the sustainable solutions field so that I can help fight the climate crisis and build a better tomorrow. However, it is my non-academic goals for which I am fundraising. I have been a competitive cyclist with Team California Juniors for nearly 8 years. I have had some incredible opportunities to race at a regional, state, and national level thus far in my racing career. But, racing at such a high level doesn't come without hard work, dedication and funding. I train 10-15 hours, covering 200-300 miles per week, year-round, and pay my own racing expenses by working as a bicycle mechanic. Over the past 8 years, I have amassed enough skill and strength to reach the highest level in American amateur racing and competed with the pros in the Redlands Bicycle Classic with LUX Cycling finishing a respectable 45th out of 162 starters, finishing ahead of many top American riders. The Redlands Classic was a great experience, but now I am focused on putting all my skill, strength, hard work, and dedication to the test at USACycling National Championships, and on an international stage this summer at the Junior Tour of Ireland and in Belgium. And that's where all of you come in! I am raising funds to help pay for travel to Nationals in Virginia, Europe and take this important next step in my athletic career. My goal is to not only further my racing career but gain valuable life experience through European racing. And I'll have some fun along the way. Thank you in advance for your donation and thank you for reading my story! I'll be sure to share more when I return from this summer’s racing excursion. In the meantime, you can follow my cycling adventures on my Instagram: @evan_lars0n
