Evann Potts: A True Miracle Story

Donation protected

Whitney (wife): On Tuesday, May 25th, shortly after 7pm EST, my husband was involved in a random drive by shooting that resulted in him being shot at 3 times. 2 of the bullets went through him; one through his neck severing the carotid artery and the other through his left upper arm. He was left to exsanguinate on the side of the road. Due to an onset of miracles, he arrived at the hospital where he received multiple blood transfusions and underwent emergency surgery for a carotid artery bypass. The bullet to his neck also left him with damage to the hypoglossal nerve (which operates the tongue), a cervical fracture, and trauma to the trachea/esophagus. His parents and I were told that he had multiple blood clots in his brain that could lead to a sudden stroke and there was a very high probability he would not wake up from surgery. We were to be prepared that he would not be able to move his arms and legs and would require a tracheostomy and a feeding tube. After being awake all night, talking with detectives/surgeons/nurses while waiting for the 5-6 hour surgery, the following morning a team of medical workers came in to discuss long-term rehabilitation placement plans with me.

God had a different plan!

My husband came home from the hospital 5 days later and is a living, breathing, walking, talking miracle.

Evann (victim): I appreciate everyone’s passionate prayers and I know that the power of numbers is what has made my recovery move exponentially!

The man who shot me has been in my prayers every day and I pray for him to know and experience the love of Jesus. I believe that it’s not a lack of gun control in our world; rather, it is a lack of love. People need to learn how to give/receive love and how to react in a reasonable, responsible way.

I am so blessed to be alive, and there are many financial mountains we now face. God has put this on my heart to humble myself and ask for assistance…so here I am. Today, I am asking for funds to help pay for hospital costs, doctor’s appointments, physical therapy for my arm, speech therapy, counseling for both my wife and I, lost wages, etc. Everyday my body shows me signs of another miracle and proves to me, beyond a shadow of belief that God is good, ALL the time! Having said that, I am in constant pain due to severe nerve damage in both my arm and mouth and the road to recovery will be long. If you read this and find in your heart the desire to contribute, I sincerely appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. If unable to provide financially, please pray for continued healing for me as I am determined to make a full recovery and patience for my wife, who has been my rock through all of this.
