Evan Mitchell's Road To Recovery

Donation protected
On January 11, 2020 Evan Mitchell (18) and his girlfriend, Sydney (17) were driving home to meet his mom, Janice Mitchell for dinner.  Heavy rain had just moved into the area making driving conditions hazardous. When they reached a notoriously bad curve near Youngsville, NC, aka 'dead-mans curve', Evan lost control of his vehicle. Although he was able to avoid a collision with another car, the Honda he was driving slid off the road, flipped over, collided with a tree, and caught fire. Luckily a few witnesses were able to extinguish the fire. They then removed a tree and assisted getting Sydney from the vehicle first. Evan was ultimately assisted from the vehicle unconscious with severely inhibited breathing detected. Both were transported to WakeMed ER via ambulance.  Sydney sustained a neck and head injury and was released from the ER within a few hours. Unfortunately Evan sustained several serious injuries including a life threatening brain injury.  When Janice and other family arrived at WakeMed they were initially told Evan wouldn't survive. However within a few hours the on-call neurosurgeon decided to perform a hemicraniectomy as a heroic effort due to Evan's age. Although the surgery was deemed a success, as a brain hematoma was discovered and bleeding stopped.  Evan has been in a coma and is currently in the ICU with very serious brain injuries. We are praying for a miracle!  Please consider helping Janice Mitchell with some of the expenses incurred while she is staying at WakeMed by Evan's side. The amount of time she will need to remain at the hospital and be out of work is undetermined.  We continue to pray and feel constantly blessed with the love and support from everyone. God shows love through each of us and it's in these times when our biggest vulnerabilities are so visible. Thank you in advance for any help including your continued prayers!
