Evan Melau Nomads Basketball Memorial Fund

This GoFundMe is in Memorial of Evan Melau who left us way too early on 6/19/20. Evan played Nomads basketball from 5th - 8th grade (2016 - 2019).
I had the pleasure of coaching Evan for 4 years in the Nomads basketball program. There wasn't a player on any other team we ever played that had the heart, competitive nature, and will to win that he had. Evan was surrounded by a pair of loving parents in Chuck and Jamie that rarely, if ever, missed a game (except for when Chuck would get kicked out), along with two great siblings in Jake and Zoe. All of them are truly going to miss this amazing young man.
When the season ended last year, we did it again in victory, something that team always seemed to be good at. I contribute that to all of the players, but the heart and and soul of the team always began and ended with Evan. That said, I was chatting with someone earlier today about coaching, and said that the beauty about coaching isn't winning games, but, in the case of youth sports, is seeing young children grow into young adults. I had the pleasure of witnessing that with Evan, but truly hoped to say I could see him grow into a grown adult man, and that's something we will all miss out on.
The purpose of this fund, is to provide to Evan's family, from the Nomads program and help them out for the services and costs beyond, through this extremely difficult time. Chuck and Jamie Melau have been officially the named beneficiaries of this GoFundMe.
While many of you may have never knew or even met Evan, I'd like to think that as part of the Nomad family and the Downers Grove community, you understand the heartache that is occurring in their family.
