Dearest Friends,
In September 2016, I received an offer from International Justice Mission for a semester-long internship at IJM Headquarter in D.C. with the Southeast Asia Team. I grew up in the part of China that's on the China-Vietnam border, and I had traveled to five SE Asian countries before I came to the U.S. for education. Thus, SE Asia a place very close to my heart.
To briefly introduce IJM:
International Justice Mission is a Christian non-profit organization that strives to fight against social injustice in developing nations. IJM is an entrepreneurial-minded organization – they consistently seek to deliver solutions to the problems within systems. Their mission includes training local police officers, rescuing victims of domestic violence, providing legal assistance, etc. Read more on: http://www.ijm.org/who-we-are .
I recognized the IJM internship is an opportunity provided by God for me to grow as not only a faithful Christian (IJM maintains a great spiritual discipline: daily quiet time and prayer gathering on a daily basis) but also a young professional (IJM has a repetition of professionalism. Oh boy, business attire every day). I believe this internship will challenge me to see more brokenness in this world and to understand God’s vision for the poor.
I would like your help!
This super valuable (for me) full-time internship in D.C. is unpaid. To cover the basic housing and living expenses in the D.C. / Northern Virginia area, I am looking to fundraise (ideally) $5,000. HOWEVER, donations are NOT the only way you can support me. I'd appreciate it if you would pray for me and my time at IJM!
As I move to D.C. area next year, I will be sending out bi-weekly updates. Sign up here so that you would receive newsletters from me on the ways you could pray for me, IJM, and the poor around the world.
