Evan Dane

Hello, Evan is a four-year-old energetic, loving dog. He has been the light of my mom's life for the past four years, helping her through life's difficulties including her divorce. As my mom's closest companion, Evan has been on all sorts of adventures with her. They go on weekly, if not daily, river walks. He loves visiting the beach and bounding around looking for geoducks to squirt. Evan's name carries a little anecdote with it. When she first brought him home, her friend, who isn't particularly fond of dogs, expressed his disapproval. And when he realized how large Evan was going to be, he couldn't help but laugh. In jest, my mom suggested naming him after her friend - Evan Dean. However, to everyone's surprise, even hers, the name stuck, and that's how Evan became Evan Dane.

A few months ago, while my mom and some of her friends were enjoying some time at Seabold beach. Evan was happily chasing a ball when suddenly, he let out a piercing scream of pain and collapsed. At first, we held onto hope that he would be fine since he managed to get back on his feet and move around. However, with every step he took, another agonizing scream followed. To make matters worse, in order to reach her car, they had to conquer a daunting flight of 300 stairs. They made it up the first flight painstakingly slowly, but it became clear that they couldn't continue without assistance. So, they patiently waited for two whole hours for a stretcher to arrive, enabling them to carry him up the remaining stairs.

Upon visiting the vet, she received the distressing news that Evan had torn his ACL and required surgery on both back legs. The cost of the surgery was estimated to be between $6000 and $12000 per leg.
