There aren’t many people who enter a room and put everyone in it at ease. Some people have the natural ability to relate and connect. To make you feel peaceful just by merely being in their presence.
Generally soft-spoken (except when animated), imposing, with a smile that filled up his whole face and hands so big they looked like baseball mitts, Evan D’Meza, was one of those people.
He gave the immediate feeling of being embraced by a warm hug, whether you thought you’d needed it or not. On top of that, he was funny, intelligent, strong, empathetic, an extremely hard worker, a protector, and the most optimist 34-year-old in a world filled with pessimists.
On Wednesday, October 21st, the world lost a big light.
He was a son, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, enterpriser, inspiring world traveler. He was a savor of life, who knew what it was to live and not take life for granted. One of his last gifts to us is a lesson he already learned along the way.
Tomorrow isn’t promised; live today.
Most importantly, above all else was his love for his daughter Elliana. All paths in his life trailed back to his little girl. Often, he’d speak about the adventures they’d take, places they’d travel, and the memories he was looking to create.
He wanted her world to have no boundaries. He wanted her to see everything. There wasn’t anything big or small that he wouldn’t have done for her. She was his true center…
In his memory, his family and friends would like to make sure Elli can take those adventures. That she can enjoy all the opportunities that life throws her way. Whether that’s gazing at the pyramids of Giza or graduating from college.
We thank you for your help, support, and love during this time, and we take comfort in the idea that Evan’s big feet will be traveling with us every step of the way, looking out for us all.
Thank you all,
The D'Meza's and LaPorta's
