Hello my name is Flore (they/them). I am an educator, facilitator place-based ecological relationships, and maker (mostly visual work and fibers). I moved to California 6 months ago after facing housing insecurity in Brooklyn, NY, and getting employment where I did not feel endangered. I found a stable housing situation in a very rural place. As fire season has started my landlady asked that I get a car in order to safely stay on the property, so I am facing house insecurity again!
Why I Need a Car:
- A way to evacuate when/if the fire hit the forest again
- My housing security is conditional on having a car.
- grocery shopping consistently & regularly
- following up on my doctor's referrals
- getting to a pharmacy
- I've been hand washing my clothes.
- I spend most of the last 6 months in mostly social isolation.
- Freelancing barely covering me
- And I need a car to get a job, and a job to finance a car.
I will use this fund to put buy or put a deposit on a pre-own little car (YAY!)
Cost:
- CA Driver's License: $89
- License Plates: 0.65% car value
- Car Registration: $46
- California Highway Patrol Fee: $23
- Title Transfer: $15-20
- County Fee: $? (the county just said fees)
- Car Sales taes: 7.25% of car value
- First 3-6 months of insurance: ~$200-500
- All the rest: deposit on a car bc they are SO $$$$$
