I’m desperately trying to get my best friend’s family out of Sudan, alive... before it’s too late.

By supporting our GoFundMe campaign. Your generous donations will be allocated towards:
- Safely evacuating across 3 cities until they reach Port Sudan where they will take a plane to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), then to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
- Temporary shelter
- Essential needs like food, clothing, and medical care, including a stable supply of insulin to sustain my diabetic mother and brother until they arrive in Malaysia.

This is Jia's story:
The text message that changed my entire life:
Mom: “Jia, a war just broke out. They’re shelling our neighborhood. If you don’t hear from us again, know that I love you, and you make me so proud. We all love you. Kiss the boys for me and tell them grandma loves them so much and we may meet again.”
War, is something we never expect or even imagine. Takes us by surprise and we find ourselves trapped between two ravaging armies that disregard everything beautiful we hold dear in this world…our lives and our families.
I called numerous times but the lines were dropping. I knew this time things were serious in Sudan. I turn on the news, with my heart ready to jump out of my chest, and I see “War in Sudan” on every single news channel. Military jets, tanks, shelling, machine guns, bullets, “I must be dreaming,” I say…then the next text message comes through…this time it’s the family group.
“Your cousin and your aunt died from a stray bullet in their car on their way home from university. May their souls rest in peace.”
My cousin was a brilliant medical student with a bright future ahead of him…gone.
My family—my precious mother, brother, and little sister—are trapped in the midst of the brutal war that has engulfed Sudan. Every passing day brings them closer to the brink of danger and uncertainty. Any day now they could be another picture of a family circulated online as victims of war.
I am their only hope, their lifeline to safety, and this is my plea to help our family reunite again.

Our story is one of unimaginable loss, sacrifice, and unwavering love.
With only 2 changes of clothes and their ID, they were forced to flee our ancestral home and permanently leave behind every single loved one and memory we once held dear, my mother and brother, both diabetic, are now facing an additional threat—a scarcity of insulin, the critical medicine they rely on to survive. The war has ravaged the landscape and healthcare system, leaving them in constant fear for their lives. I cannot bear the thought of them suffering or worse, losing their lives due to lack of access to vital medication.
My sister, who’s just a psychology college student, has witnessed the horrors of war and experienced the trauma that no soul should endure. She clings to hope, longing for a future. My brother, a highly trained IT Engineer, had his laptop stolen while fleeing, and is desperately longing for remote employment again to support their lives.
In Malaysia, I have established a home for my two little boys as a single mother. It is a place where love, warmth, and safety embrace us. It is here that I yearn to reunite my family, for my children to grow around their family, and to bring them to the sanctuary I have carved out amidst life's challenges. Together, we can heal the wounds of the past and create a future where laughter and joy replace fear and sorrow.
By supporting our GoFundMe campaign, you become the guardian angels that pave the path to our reunion. Your generous contributions will be allocated towards:
- Their safe evacuation across 3 cities until they reach Port Sudan where they will take a cargo plane to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), then to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
- Temporary shelter
- Essential needs like food, clothing, and medical care, including a stable supply of insulin to sustain my diabetic mother and brother until they arrive in Malaysia.
I understand that each of you faces your own financial commitments, but I implore you to consider the profound impact your contribution can have on my small family. Share our campaign with your friends, family, and social networks, for your outreach may be the catalyst that brings our family closer to safety and reunion.
Let us prove that love knows no borders. Together, we can create a tapestry of compassion that stretches across continents and transcends the confines of war and suffering.
Your donation, no matter the size, will breathe life into our dreams of being together again.
Thank you, from the depths of my heart, for your kindness, your empathy, and for standing beside us in this noble cause. Every donation, every share, every act of support brings us closer to our goal. Together, we can rewrite the narrative of despair and transform it into a tale of hope, resilience, and the power of unity.
With boundless gratitude, love, and light,

Who's Jia Elhassan
Jia Elhassan, is a digital nomad and the founder of a marketing and branding agency for entrepreneurs and coaches. But today, I stand before you not just as a businesswoman, but as a woman with an unyielding passion for helping those in need including my own family. The war that has shattered Sudan has ignited a fire within me, compelling me to take action and make a difference in the lives of the suffering who are also my people.
Since the war broke out in Sudan, I have launched a remote emergency response command center, working tirelessly alongside an incredible team of Sudanese volunteers on the ground. Together, we have become the beacon of hope for countless lives left stranded and desperate for assistance. In the absence of international humanitarian aid, we have taken it upon ourselves to provide crucial support, including food, medicine, and safe passage to hospitals.
Every day, we witness the unimaginable—a daily struggle for survival, where lives hang in the balance. Families, the elderly, and innocent children perish before our eyes, and it is a tragedy that strikes painfully close to home, as some of the victims are members of my own family. Hence I’m here today trying to evacuate my mother, brother, and sister before they become another family that we lost in Sudan. Amidst this darkness, it is the resilient spirit of the Sudanese people that keeps Khartoum alive, with civilians coming together to support one another in the face of overwhelming odds.
Through our command center, we have helped thousands find safe passage, offering a glimmer of hope in the midst of chaos. However, the situation is deteriorating at an alarming rate. Medicine supplies are running dangerously low, food scarcity looms, and safe shelters for those still trapped in Khartoum are becoming increasingly scarce. The urgency to act has never been greater.
Despite the challenges we face, our efforts have garnered recognition from prominent media outlets. Exclusive interviews with BBC, The Independent, Al Jazeera English, de Volkskrant, and being featured in Elpais (Planeta Futuro) and others have shed light on the dire circumstances faced by the Sudanese people. These stories reach the hearts of people worldwide, raising awareness and inspiring action.

SUMMARY
Seeking support to evacuate my family from the war in Sudan to Malaysia.
My precious mother, brother, and little sister are trapped in war-torn Sudan, and I need to evacuate them to Malaysia where I, a single mom of two little boys, reside.
Forced to flee our home and leave behind everything we once held dear, my mother and brother, both diabetic, are now facing an additional threat—a scarcity of insulin, the critical medicine they rely on to survive. The war has ravaged the healthcare system, leaving them in constant fear for their lives. I cannot bear the thought of them suffering or worse, losing their lives due to lack of access to vital medication.
The GoFundMe campaign will fund the following:
- Their safe evacuation across 3 cities until they reach Port Sudan where they will take a cargo plane to Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), then to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
- Temporary shelter
- Essential needs like food, clothing, and medical care, including a stable supply of insulin to sustain my diabetic mother and brother until they arrive in Malaysia.
My aunt, my cousin, and another uncle are already tragic victims of the war in Sudan right now. They all died by stray bullets. We had to bury my uncle in his house yard because we couldn’t evacuate his body to a graveyard due to the conflict on the streets.
Your donation, no matter the size, will breathe life into our dreams of being together again.
I have added our full story below, how I launched an emergency response command center to help those trapped in severe war zones find safe shelter, food, medicine, and safe routes to evacuee. I was exclusively interviewed by the BBC, The Independent, Al Jazeera English, and many others.
As each hour goes by, the time for my family to safely evacuate diminishes. I implore you to assist us in evacuating my loved ones, so we can be reunited and my children can be surrounded by family before it becomes too late.
Thank you, from the depths of my heart, for your kindness, your empathy, and for standing beside us in this noble cause.
