UPDATE (8-20-2026): Three Years Into the Conflict, Ghydaa and Oday Are Still Searching for Safety and a Chance to Rebuild Their Lives

As the conflict continues into its third year, Ghydaa and her husband, Oday, are still living with its consequences every single day.

After being forced to leave Gaza and cross into Egypt, they hoped that reaching safety would finally mark the beginning of a new chapter. But even after leaving Gaza, their struggle did not end. They have still not been able to reunite with their families, who remain trapped under siege in Gaza, separated from them by closed borders and circumstances beyond their control.

Oday also lost his workplace and source of livelihood after it was completely destroyed during the war. Today, Ghydaa and Oday are trying to survive without permanent residency, stable employment, a reliable source of income, or medical and health insurance.

For Ghydaa, this uncertainty is especially difficult. As a cancer patient, she still requires regular medical follow-ups, examinations, and continued monitoring of her health. Without stable medical coverage, these costs place an enormous burden on them while they are already trying to rebuild everything they lost. In a matter of time, the life they had built together was torn apart — their home, their work, their stability, and their sense of security.

The funds raised through this campaign will help them cover Ghydaa’s ongoing medical needs and the essential costs of rebuilding their lives. Their greatest hope now is to find a safe and stable place to live and, if possible, travel to a country where Ghydaa can have access to reliable healthcare and medical insurance, where Oday can work again, and where they can finally begin rebuilding the life that war and illness have taken away from them.

More than anything, they dream of stability, dignity, and one day being reunited with their families.
Three years of war, illness, displacement, and separation have taken so much from them, but they are still holding on to hope. Every donation and every share of this campaign helps bring them one step closer to safety, treatment, stability, and the chance to begin again.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for continuing to stand with Ghydaa and Oday.

***UPDATE: Ghydaa and Oday were able to cross the Rafah border into Egypt on April 9th. However, they still need our help. Ghydaa needs to pay for medical treatment to fight her Hodgkins Lymphoma II cancer and these medical treatments are very expensive in Egypt. Added to this burden is the fact that Ghydaa and Oday both still have family members that are displaced from their homes, can’t even access a tent and are effectively stuck in Gaza because the borders are closed. As you may know, the price for everything in Gaza is astronomical.

Hello World!

This GoFundMe is to help a friend, 30 year-old Palestinian cancer patient Ghydaa Nabhan, to evacuate Gaza and the dreadful war with her 30 year-old husband Oday Moghari. They are currently in Deir al Balah area trying to find their way to Rafah to evacuate.

Ghydaa is a Hodgkins Lymphoma II cancer patient. She was following a chemotherapy treatment at the Turkish partnership hospital for cancer patients in Gaza. She went through 12 cycles of ABVD, followed by 26 radiotherapy sessions at the Victoria hospital in Jerusalem.

However, due to the constant bombardment by the Israeli Occupation Forces, Ghydaa has been unable to access any medical treatments since October 2023. Ghydaa was suppose to be in Jerusalem for a follow-up appointment and pet scan on October 26th, 2023 to see what the next steps of her treatment will be but because of the unprecedented war, every crossing point has been closed and her referral from the Ministry of Health to exit was completely rejected, rendering her unable to leave.

Ghydaa needs our support to evacuate immediately before the invasion of Rafah in which she'll be prisoned with no treatment. Ghydaa needs the support so she can resume proper treatment for her health and for a better future as she has seen enough pain and misery.

In the photo above, Ghydaa is undergoing her first chemotherapy session at the hospital. She says: "I was desperate, hopeless and crying because it hurts like hell. Yet, the heart-shape that you see in the photo gave me hope that day, like a light in the dark. I prayed and smiled.”

In the above picture, Ghydaa is on her first visit to Al-Aqsa, Jerusalem. She remembers: "I stayed there all day, praying Allah for salvation and good health. I was late for my radiation session because of the beauty and charm that was around me. "No regrets for the delay as I was at al-Aqsa for the first time in my life" I said to the young lady in the reception of the radiation department."

Ghydaa and Oday have dreams of starting a family with kids of their own. Ghydaa needs to evacuate to have access to proper medical follow-ups and complete the necessary fertility treatment to get pregnant and have children.

The money collected will help with costs of crossing the border in Rafah, continuing the live-saving medical treatments she needs as well as the costs of living (food, shelter, clothing) once in Egypt.

Time is of the essence. Every dollar donated will help Ghydaa and Oday immensely. Thank you for your generosity.
