Heart Surgery

Hello Everyone. My name is Joe Provost. I am a father of 3 and grandfather to eight, yes 8 wonderful grand babies. I would like to be around to see them grow up. I could use your help please. I was recently diagnosed with a heart problem. I have a bad mitral valve in the left atrium of my heart. The mitral valve is a valve that lets blood flow from one chamber of the heart, the left atrium, to another called the left ventricle. My valve has worn itself out and it is in need of being replaced. The procedure is open heart surgery and the doctors will replace my valve with a new one.  The surgery is going to happen in May or possibly sooner depending on the review with my surgeon next week.  My current daily life is slowing down dramatically a little more every day.  The cardiologist told  me I was on light duty from now until surgery. This is very hard for me to handle as I have lived a very active lifestyle. I love the outings with my family and friends. I love working with my hands and building things.  The biggest risk of this surgery, from what I am told, is the anesthesia. I have read some of the experiences of others who have undergone this surgery and in some cases things went very bad.  My prayers go out to those individuals and families tonight. I hope that they recover and return to their families. The hospital  and testing expenses have already used up my savings. My health care plan only covers some of the cost.  The co-pays and additional fees are not easy to keep up with. The healing time can take up to 6 months if every thing goes well. I do not want to think of what costs might be if things don't go well.  After surgery, I will spend time in the ICU. Next is two weeks of extremely limited activity, I cannot walk the dog or hold the kids. That will be tough. :{ I have always been blessed to be employed in my life and very fortunate to have worked with some great companies. I am currently an owner in a new business that is only a year and half young. We are Greenline Sign Service in Colorado. Since we are very young as a company our business may not survive if it is trying to support me while I am out healing from surgery. There are good people here that work with me in our company and it would break my heart again to see that happen. It is very hard for me to humble myself and ask you for help today too. I thank you ahead for your support to help to me make it through this surgery and to heal.
