When I started teaching at the Academy of Alameda four years ago our band had 13 students in it. As we start the 18/19 school year we will have over 50 in band and almost 30 in orchestra! That doesn't count the incoming 6th graders who've signed up! In the years I've been at AoA students have accomplished so much: excellent and superior ratings at festivals, performances at the Alameda theatre, annual performances at Disneyland and our city's own 4th of July Parade!

As our music program continues to grow, we need instruments to keep up! Many of the instruments our school owns have been there for decades (back when we were Chipman) and need extensive repair. We are hoping to raise $2000 (at least) to cover the cost of new clarinets, flutes and a horn.
